Error message: Hard validation error occured. The selected billing number is not available



What does it mean



The error indicates that the billing number (account number) you are using for the shipment is unrecognizable or invalid. This usually happens when the billing number does not match the records of Deutsche Post DHL.

How to solve



Double check with your carrier account manager if the business account number and service you are using is valid and associated with your account. They can provide you with the correct number if there's a discrepancy.

Error message: references.0 is too short, minimum length is 8



What does it mean



The error indicates the references.0 that is typically a field used to include additional reference information or identifiers related to the shipment, does not meet the minimum length requirement. According to Deutsche Post DHL's requirement, the field length should be between 8 and 35 characters.

How to solve



Recheck the value you've entered for the references.0 field.
Make sure that the value you enter for references.0 has at least 8 characters and does not exceed 35 characters.

Error message: shipment.ship_to.street is too long, maximum length is 50



What does it mean



The error indicates that the address field ship_to street length exceeds the required length. According to Deutsche Post DHL's requirement, the total length for the street address (which may include combined inputs from multiple fields) must not exceed 50 characters.

How to solve



The ship_to street field which can compose of two address fielda, street 1 and street 2 like AB Main Street and the additional Apt 2C information combined should not be over 50 characters.

Review your field details again and make it fall between the allowable length.

Tip: Use abbreviations for street types.

Error message: Parameter billingNumber must consist of 14 character (10-digit account number, 2 digit procedure ID, 2 digit partnerID)



What does it mean



billingNumber is a crucial parameter used to identify and authenticate the billing or account details for a shipment with Deutsche Post DHL.

The error indicates that the billingNumber parameter you've entered is invalid and does not match the required format. It must be exactly 14 characters long with 10-digit Deutsche Post DHL account number, 2 digit procedure ID, and 2 digit partner ID.

How to solve



Update the "Account number" to be the correct account number. Need to note that for Deutsche Post DHL account setup , the carrier is always using different account number for forward service (e.g. Deutsche Post DHL Packet, Deutsche Post DHL Packet International) and returns service (Deutsche Post DHL Retoure), make sure you have setup the correct account number with the correct service.



Error message: data.shipper_account.credentials is invalid



What does it mean


The provided credentials are invalid. Possibly the provided username, password to login DHL Business Customer Portal is wrong.

How to solve


Double check your current username, password to login DHL Business Customer Portal and use the correct values with AfterShip.

Because DHL system requires password update periodically, it's possible that your other team members have updated the password in DHL site but didn't update the same in AfterShip system. Please check with your team and make sure the password is always updated the same in the two systems.


Error message: Why is no qr code returned when use Deutsche Post DHL Retoure



Reason



The QR code is only used for addresses in Germany (DEU).

Error message: Label address is not expected



Reason



When Retoure service is used with the carrier, carrier will generate return label by using the address that was tied to their Receiver ID with Deutsche Post DHL instead of the address to create label.
